TCP Accelerator Solution for Speed Issues in Satellite Data Traffic

Thanks to satellite communication, people all over the world can access the Internet. Unfortunately, the Internet`s most common communication protocols (TCP and HTTP) are designed for terrestrial networks. They perform very poorly over satellite networks. As a result, the user experiences slow download speeds and increased cost of internet bandwidth. Also, valuable satellite capacity is not being used most efficiently.

The ideal solution to overcome these disadvantages is Newtec`s Acceleration and Compression technology. The user will have a better experience (QoE) using the Internet or Enterprise applications due to the unified traffic enhancement technologies accelerating the underlying communication protocols (TCP and HTTP).

With the TCP/IP optimization protocol stack (Enhanced TCP), the effective bandwidth changes instantly and at any given time as a dynamic result of full utilization of the available satellite capacity (Cross-Layer-Optimization). At the same time, download speeds increase to the maximum possible throughput based on the user`s SLA. HTTP acceleration speeds up the end user`s web application experience by up to 60%. This is achieved by combining simultaneously stopping, caching, timing, and provisioning techniques. Even if several IP services (file download and web browsing) share the same virtual circuit, web browsing is fast and downloading uses the remaining capacity.

Additionally, various Compression techniques save bandwidth of up to 20% and up to 90% on the return connection. The Integrated Payload Compression feature instantly compresses and decompresses TCP data if it is compressible. Lightweight ETCP protocol headers save approximately 50% in bandwidth over TCP protocol headers. Finally, the collection of ETCP control data reduces the bandwidth requirement by up to 99% compared to TCP or SCPS / TP control data.
